Holiday Inspiration: Advent Calendar #2 {as seen on Waardevol, Kyknet}

Good morning, I am back again with the ‘how to’ for the second Advent Calendar as shown on Waardevol, Kyknet. This calendar was made out of the beautiful pages of an old catalogue, some vinyl numbers {you can get them here}, bakers twine, washi tape and two old frames. These cute triangular pockets can also be used as favours on your festive table setting. If you can’t find an old catalogue or magazine, try the pages of an old book, chinese printed news paper, wrapping paper or even brown paper. I closed the edges with normal double-sided tape, however you can also sew the edges together or use a patterned scissor to finish it off {you can get patterned scissors here}.

Thank you to Lauren from Lauren Kim Photography for the pictures!

My paper rectangles are 10.5cm x 21cm – you may change the size to fit your gifts. Remember, to make sure to use a thicker paper if your gifts are heavy. Apply double-sided tape to one short side and both long sides

First remove the ‘short-side’ double-sided tape backing and stick it to the other ‘short’ side to form a little tube.

Now, remove the double-sided tape backing of one of the ‘long’ sides and squeeze this side close – important, make sure that your ‘short-side’ seam is NOT in the middle but on the side.

Nearly there… now for the brain surgery… remove the double-sided tape backing of one of the other ‘long’ side INSERT your gift squeeze it closed in exactly the opposite direction, to create the traingle shape, capeesh?

Finish off your pockets as you desire, you can write, stamp or glue your numbers on the pockets.

Find a creative way to display your calendar, I used two old frames, but you can put your pockets in a bowl, hang them on a branch, pin them on a board or peg them on a wire.

Happy Creativity!
